My velvet pocket notebook

First post of 2025

Ahhh, it’s the first month of the year! I’m happy to say that I’ve been enjoying it so far.

I’ve been doing several stuff to keep myself healthy, steady, and well-rounded this year. I’ve been working out, meditating, decluttering, cleaning, reading, and socializing in an effort to maintain balance in all aspects of my life.

These may seem like basic tasks, but for me, they are great milestones to kick off the year.

Current Happenings

📖 Reading: Since I’ve had my Kobo, I’ve been more motivated to accomplish my reading goal this year of 10 books. Now, I’m ¾ of Piranesi, a fantasy novel I’ve borrowed using my Libby library card. It’s due since yesterday, but I learned that as long as I keep my screen in the book’s reading mode and keep my device offline, I can keep reading my otherwise overdue book. Heheh.

I’m glad that I kept reading the book’s first 50 or 70 pages because the next chapters became riveting! The first chapters focused on worldbuilding which sounded to me like a monotonous info dump, but the character and the writing were fascinating, so I went ahead and read the rest. Can’t wait to read the ending!

📺 Watching: I just finished watching Squid Game last Saturday and I thought it was entertaining and nail-biting like the first season. Right now, I’m watching the first episode of Misaeng (2014). Also, last week, I gobbled up the only season of Nate and Jeremiah on HBO Max. I’ve been so focused on reading lately that I haven’t watched a lot of TV series in the past months, but I’ve enjoyed those that I’ve watched!

🫖 Drinking: I just made Indian chai earlier which wasn’t up to my expectations. The Dilmah tea I have now is a bit light compared to the Brooke Bond one I used before. I think I’ll steep my tea longer so it’s stronger and better.

📝 Planning: My sister and I just booked some trips on Klook in preparation for our Taiwan trip next month. Another event to look forward to!

Until my next post!
