Peace and calm
There is peace and calm tonight as I’m writing this post. It’s been a productive but also restful Saturday; no work, just me and my personal TTDs. I finally accomplished some tasks I’ve been meaning to do in the past weeks, and after ticking them off my daily list, came the blissful stillness I’m reveling in right now…
I watched two episodes of my new reality HGTV addiction, Flip or Flop, on Max. These house-flipping shows make me want to buy my own place, calibrate and embellish it to my liking, and apply my accumulated design knowledge and principles from reality TV. If only I had the means to buy or rent a property! and also the courage to live on my own!
After some binging, I converted a roster of books I feel like reading this April into kepub (Kobo epub) files. I also was able to convert Sunrise on the Reaping into MOBI, so my sister can read it on my old Kindle e-reader.
I converted 10+ books for my Kobo, so I do hope I can get into a lot of reading this month. I’m excited to dive into A Wild Sheep Chase and The Yellow Wallpaper this April!
It took me a while to convert these books, since it was only recently I discovered the existence of kepub files. I had been disappointed at how regular epubs look on my Kobo hitherto kepubs. Luckily, kepubs file type makes the formatting much smoother on my Kobo!
Last week, it took about me 4+ hours to learn how to convert my epubs to kepubs, since there is no official program that does the process in one click. I only relied on instructions and guides I found from Calibre programmers and fellow Kobo owners online. I was about to throw in the towel because of the confusing instructions. Alas, I endeavored to make kepub happen! I reread the instructions and redid everything about 5 times, then installed a bunch of configs on Calibre.
After poring over a handful of how-to guides from subreddits and forums, I’m quite happy with how it all turned out. I did it! My ebooks look impeccable on my Kobo! No awkward font sizes, alignments, or spacings, and no pre-programmed formatting. Yay!
After my ebook conversion, I cleaned my dingier-than-clean bathroom. It took me less than an hour to do this, and fortunately, the strong powder detergent cleaner did not make my head ache today.
After a much-needed bath, I organized some old photos and went through a bunch of albums and reassigned them by year.
Tomorrow, we'll be going grocery shopping so I’m hoping to sleep earlier than usual. This way, I won’t scramble to leave on time and wake up in a sea of sweat brought by the blistering tropical summer.
